Network meetings

Graduate School on "Atomic Manipulation", 7-10 June 2005

We organised a short Summer School at the Conference Park, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, to support and train young researchers in the AMMIST groups. The Lecturers, list of participants and programme can be found here (pdf) .

Research Conference on "Molecular Nano-Machines", 17-21 January 2005

The conference was held at Centre de Physique des Houches. The program, abstracts and list of participants can be found in the booklet (pdf) and the conference photo can be found here.

Mid-term Review meeting, 18 January 2005

The meeting was held in conjunction with the research meeting in Les Houches

Zurich meeting, 13-14 May 2004

This two day network meeting was held in IBM Zurich and hosted by Gerhard Meyer. The meeting was attended by 20 researchers including 12 post-docs and PhD students from the 7 network laboratories. During the meeting the young researchers presented their own works and projects. All young scientists paid by the network had a special discussion with Jean-Paul Berhault (project Technical Assistant from Brussels) about their rights and duties in the network. The principal investigators had a detailed discussion on the training program of the network. In particular, we decided that the next network meeting in conjunction with the mid-term review meeting will be in Les Houches (France) on 17-21 January 2005. One of the most interesting aspects of the meeting was the visit of the IBM research laboratory. This was a unique experience, especially for all the attending young scientists who were very enthusiastic by this visit.

The programme of the meeting can be found here (pdf)

Orsay meeting, 19-20 May 2003

This two day meeting was held in Orsay and attended by 40 researchers. This meeting was organized jointly by the AMMIST and CHIC networks. Indeed, the CHIC (Consortium for Hamiltonian Intramolecular Computing) network has a number of common interests, such as the coherent control, with the AMMIST network. It has been especially interesting to put together all the expertise of both networks. 28 researchers from AMMIST attended the meeting, among them, 15 Post-docs and PhD students from the 7 AMMIST network laboratories. After a few presentations by experienced and young researchers, there was ample time for informal discussions and for visiting the laboratories of G. Dujardin.

Berlin meeting, 29 November 2002

This one day meeting was held in Berlin and was attended by 13 researchers from all 7 network laboratories. All the groups presented their current activities and projects. We organized the bilateral collaborations between Berlin/Toulouse, Aarhus/Toulouse, Birmingham/Göteborg, Göteborg/Zurich, Toulouse/Zurich, Toulouse/Orsay and Birmingham/Orsay. We discussed the content of the network web-site, possible phone-conferences, future meetings, the hiring of post-docs and PhD students, and visited the laboratories of F. Moresco
